YA Series Recommendation: The Liar Society by Lisa and Laura Roecker

I also have a young adult series recommendation. I’d had The Liar Society series on my to-be-read list for quite a while, and one day in December I was browsing through the online library for something I could read right away and found the first book in the series available. I was hooked from the very beginning and read the other two books as soon as I could get my hands on them. I had to wait the longest for the third one because it had just come out. Anyway, I’m only going to give you the description for the first book because I don’t want to spoil the series for you.

Since when do the dead send emails?

Kate Lowry’s best friend Grace died a year ago. So when she gets an email from her, Kate’s more than a little confused.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace’s death was more than just a tragic accident. She teams up with a couple of knights-in-(not-so)-shining armor-the dangerously hot bad boy, Liam, and her lovestruck neighbor, Seth. But at their elite private school, there are secrets so big people will do anything to protect them-even if it means getting rid of anyone trying to solve a murder…

Here are the five things I loved most about this series:

1. The boys – If Kate had a Facebook relationship status, it would read, “It’s complicated.” I loved the way her relationship develops with her next door neighbor, Seth. Then there are Liam, the new love interest, and Bradley, the boy she’s crushed on forever. It’s not exactly a love triangle, and yet there’s tension through all three books.

2. The mystery – To be honest, even though I knew this was a series, I really thought everything was going to wrap up at the end of the first book. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were many more layers to this mystery than what I originally believed. It was more than enough to keep the momentum going for three books, and I loved the scavenger hunt feel of her hunting down answers.

3. The hint of the paranormal – Is Kate really getting emails from Grace? Well, I’m not going to tell you, but the authors kept me guessing.

4. The school’s secrets – I almost put something here that I shouldn’t. Let’s just say the secrets are good!

5. Kate’s journey – Kate is not in a good place at the beginning of the series, but she finds her way. She doesn’t make it through without mistakes, but in the end she figures out who she wants to be, and I admired her for it.

So, who else has read these books? I will definitely be adding them to my permanent collection!
